Fractora is a skin resurfacing treatment that uses radio frequency to improve your skin’s appearance by remodeling your tissue and collagen.
Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a Fractora treatment can improve your skin’s appearance and resolve acne scarring. With a Fractora treatment, you have little risk of the redness or hyperpigmentation you get with other resurfacing treatments. The Fractora treatment stimulates your skin’s natural healing response. Your existing collagen begins to produce more collagen resulting in your skin becoming tighter, firmer, and smoother.
Fractora can be used to target fine facial lines, deep wrinkles, scars, irregularities with skin pigmentation, stretch marks, and visible blood vessels. Fractora’s color blind technology means that most skin types can receive treatment without having post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
What areas can Fractora treat?
Fractora is effective in treating the following areas:
- Lower eyelid
- Upper eyelid
- Smile lines
- Forehead
- Cheeks
- Mouth
- Neck
- Hands
- Sun damaged skin
- Active acne
What’s involved in a Fractora treatment?
The Fractora procedure is done as an outpatient procedure in the office. You can return almost immediately to your usual activities. A topical anesthetic is applied to your skin to numb it prior to the treatment. Using a small brush-like device, the procedure involves delivering fractional radio frequency, via microneedling, to the area being treated.
You will be given instructions before and after the procedure. Your treatment will be customized to your specific needs.
How long is a Fractora treatment?
The Fractora procedure can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours for each session. If you need more than one session, they will be scheduled several weeks apart.
What happens to my skin after a Fractora treatment?
After your Fractora procedure, your skin will begin to heal naturally. The collagen will begin to restructure and you will notice that your skin tone will begin to improve over the course of several weeks.
Are there any side effects after my Fractora treatment?
There should be minimal side effects. If you do have any they may be:
- Moderate redness of your skin for a few days
- Minimal swelling at the treatment site
- Texture and pigmentation changes
Contact our office if you have any unusual reactions during this post-treatment phase.
Is there a recovery period after my Fractora treatment?
There is really no downtime after a Fractora treatment. You will be given detailed aftercare instructions to follow after the treatment including keeping the area that has been treated moist. You can begin to wear makeup 3 days after the treatment to cover any redness. It would be best if you avoided sun exposure for at least a month after your Fractora treatment so you don’t become hyperpigmented.
How often should I have a Fractora treatment?
After a Fractora treatment, you should begin to see results after two weeks. To continue to improve, a series of Fractora treatments will be recommended depending on the area being treated.
